The reference material IAEA-611 (CaCO3), similarly as the reference materials IAEA-610 and IAEA-612, can serve as second scale-anchor together with IAEA-603 for realization of the VPDB δ13C scale.
The reference materials IAEA-610, IAEA-611 and IAEA-612 were prepared with the aim to replace the reference material LSVEC and to address requirements for all possible applications including the strictest requirements for δ13C in greenhouse gas observations. Description of the material, its intended use, results of the characterisation and the values assignment can be found in the Reference Sheet. The material IAEA‑611 is supplied as 0.5 g units in flame sealed glass ampoules.
Assigned δ13C values for the stable isotopic composition of IAEA-611
expressed in per mille (‰) on the respective VPDB scales
IAEA-611 | Assigned value | Uncertainty in δ13C at ~10 mg aliquots, ‰ | Uncertainty in δ13C at ~100 mg aliquots, ‰ |
δ13C, ‰ on the VPDB scale | -30.795 | ±0.013 | ±0.04 |
