IAEA-B-8 is a natural clay collected from a deposit near Montelupo (Tuscany) and was prepared by the Istituto di Geoscienze e Georisorse, Pisa, Italy. The clay was heated for three days at 120°C to remove water, then ground to a grain size smaller than 5 µm, and homogenized [1]. The recommended values of the quality control material are the results of the statistical evaluation of an interlaboratory comparison [2].
