The raw material was sampled from an old bauxite mining area near Gant village in Hungary and was obtained from the IAEA`s collaborating centre Radioanalytical Reference Laboratory (RRL), Food Chain Safety Laboratory Directorate, National Food Chain Safety Office, Budapest, Hungary. The feasibility study, preparation, and pre-treatment of the bulk raw material were done in RRL. The grain size of the material fraction used for production of IAEA-493 is in the 250-500 µm range. Homogeneity and stability studies were performed at TERC Laboratory, Austria. Further details can be found on the Certificate.
